What kind of equipment do you need to have the best hike? Well, that depends on where you’re going and who you’re with. It also has something to do with whether or not you’re a professional. If you haven’t been hiking before, then read this guide and even if you have you can probably find some tips that will be helpful.
You need to have safety equipment or a minimum a basic first aid kit with you in case someone gets hurt or something else happens. A lot of people don’t remember to bring some type of kit, and those are the people that get hurt or even die when they are out in the wild. You need food if you want to go hiking. If you do not bring food, then you may starve, and that is the last thing you want to have happened on a trip like this. Also, make sure there is a water source with clean water where you’re going to be camping or that you have access to it because you brought it.
You need to wear a mosquito or bug repellent so that you don’t get bit by bugs while you’re out in the wilderness. Even if you’re hiking on a trail chances are there are a lot of bugs around that would like to annoy you. There are even some dangerous bugs like ticks because they carry Lyme disease and that’s why you really want to be careful about having some kind of protection from pests. Make sure you also get a bug net for a tent if you go where there are a lot of mosquitoes to avoid getting bitten up, when you’re trying to rest.
When you go hiking you are going to need to eat the proper diet. You are going to need a lot of protein, and you should probably eat a lot of berries and nuts just to make sure you have the energy you need to keep going. It can be tempting to get some coffee or drinks or other caffeinated beverage but in reality that makes you way worse off than before you started. After caffeine and sugar wear off, it’s hard for you to have energy. But, with protein, your body will go through it slowly and provide you with sustained energy.
Be respectful of where you camp. If there are trash cans around you should use them for your garbage and if there are not you should take your garbage with you to dispose of elsewhere. Animals live out there and could get hurt by the trash. It’s also just good etiquette because a lot of other hikers will probably come through the area later.  The more you keep the area clean, the more you can enjoy it.
What are you going to do if there’s an emergency? Even if you have first aid and know how to apply it to someone; you still have to make sure you know how to get out of where you are in an emergency. If you’re hiking along the road, then it’s pretty easy to find someone if you need them but if you’re out in the middle of nowhere hiking, then you need some form of map or Compass to help guide you to help if you need it. A lot of people carry around their smartphones even when camping just so if something happens they can be found through the phone’s last location.
