The Montachusett Regional YMCA has been providing a wealth of positive and constructive programs to the children and adults of Greater Fitchburg/Leominster since 1887. In its 120-year history, the YMCA has taken great strides in health, fitness, education and recreation programs to meet the needs of community residents. Over the years, it has seen, welcomed and accepted challenges and change at all levels. Historically, the focus of the Montachusett Regional YMCA has been on assisting children and adults from low-income circumstances by offering quality services and activities designed to provide them with a better quality of life and an increased potential for a brighter future

Mission & Purpose

The Montachusett Regional YMCA is a non-profit character-building association, nationally affiliated, and global in scope, serving individuals and families. Encouraging strong Judeo-Christian principles, the YMCA is ecumenical in its delivery of services and membership. The YMCA assists children, teens, and adults to learn the skills and attitudes that will enrich their lives, help them grow and develop to their full potential, and lead them to interracial, interfaith and intergenerational acceptance and understanding. The YMCA also strives to locate and serve unmet needs. The emphasis is on the development of values and the whole person as embodied in the triangle signifying the strong union of Spirit, Mind and Body. The YMCA firmly believes in and promotes the qualities of Caring, Honesty, Respect and Responsibility in all.
